The Netgear XE103 85 Mbps Wall-Plugged Ethernet Adapter

netgearx103_470I use the Netgear XE103 85 Mbps Wall-Plugged Ethernet Adapter to network my desktop PCs. The nice thing about the adapter is that it allows you to network your home computers without running new wires, by utilizing standard electrical outlets.

It is a simple plug and play installation, and requires no software. The installation requires that you buy at least two adapters. You plug the first adapter into a wall outlet in the room with your router, and then connect it to your router using an ethernet cable. Then, you plug the second adapter into an outlet in the room where the computer you want to network is located. The last step is to connect one end of an ethenet cable to the adapter and the other end to your computer and that’s all.

You can repeat this in other rooms if you have other computers you would like to network. You can also connect the adapter to an ethernet switch if you want to share the connection with multiple computers in one room. I have been using this setup for a number of years, with no problems.
